Kalshi has solidified its position as a leader in the financial exchange sector by securing a high-profile partnership with CNN.
Announced on Tuesday, December 3, the deal designates Kalshi as the network’s official provider of prediction market data. This collaboration represents a major step forward for the industry, bringing real-time probability data to a mainstream news audience.
The announcement follows closely on the heels of Kalshi’s massive $1 billion fundraising round, led by CapitalG and Sequoia, which has pushed the company’s valuation to $11 billion.
The integration will see Kalshi providing CNN with a direct API feed, allowing the broadcaster to visualize market probabilities for various global events.
Viewers can expect to see this data appear on-screen via tickers during live coverage, offering an alternative perspective to traditional polling and expert analysis.
The initiative is designed to give audiences a data-driven look at the likelihood of specific political, cultural, and economic outcomes as they evolve in real-time.
CNN’s data and production teams, led by chief data analyst Harry Enten, will utilize these insights to enhance their reporting. By incorporating market-based probabilities into their storytelling, the network aims to provide a more dynamic and accurate picture of unfolding news cycles.
This partnership is part of a wider trend of major media and sports organizations, including the NHL, embracing prediction markets as a legitimate source of analytical data.
Kalshi Official Statement:
“Kalshi is the world’s largest federally regulated exchange, having created and established the predictions market category as a financial asset class. Users can trade on real-world events to predict the outcomes of elections, weather, cultural moments, and more. It’s because of this accuracy that Kalshi’s data will serve as a powerful complement to CNN’s reporting. Journalists can more easily surface credible information to their audiences about the real-time probabilities of future cultural and political events.”
Sam Felix, SVP of Strategic Partnerships at CNN:
“By partnering with Kalshi to showcase prediction market data in our programming, CNN journalists will have a fresh, data-based angle from which to explore and better understand the world around us.”
